With many expecting the New England Patriots to do their usual and trade out of the first round, they opted to stay put. And considering the talent of defensive tackle Malcom Brown was available, who can blame them.
The selection of Brown is a true steal for the Patriots. It is surprising enough that Brown fell as far as he did, but the fact that he landed in New England is downright shocking. However, it will likely be a true match made in heaven. After allowing the franchise staple at defensive tackle, Vince Wilfork, leave for Houston this offseason, there was a need for a big man in the middle. The addition of Brown is a perfect replacement for the Patriots – younger, quicker yet a player that resembles Wilfork.
And yet none of us are shocked the Patriots got a steal.
